"Finding Peace Within"

All through history, man has fought for peace.

A battle here, a war somewhere else.

But, it seems that nothing ever changes,

For, peace comes from within one's self.

 

Our nations will always have differences.

We will think and believe differently.

But, that shouldn't be reason for war.

For, peace should come from our individuality.

 

We should never be judged for our beliefs,

But, rather, we should be more understanding.

Searching for that common denominator

To build a relationship less demanding.

 

When man learns how to find peace within

Instead of worrying about his neighbor,

Then we will have no more wars.

And the love and contentment we'll savor.

 

"Don't Know What I'm Gonna Do"

Well, I don't know just what I'm gonna do,

But, I do know I'm gonna do it.

One of these days I'll settle down,

And, when I do, I know I'll get right to it.

 

I have every intention of getting it done,

But I always seem to get distracted.

I'll be right on the verge of doing it,

Then, the next thing I know, I've reacted.

 

These days , it takes all I've got to focus

On whatever is immediately at hand.

I try so hard to make myself concentrate.

Next thing I know, I'm off in la-la land.

 

I must be the king of daydreamers,

For, to me, that seems to be my reality.

But whenever I have something to do.

I know I will do it eventually.

"The Essence Of Happiness"

Most folks drag their way thru life,

Not really understanding to what purpose.

They tend to pattern after those around them,

Not aware that  they are only covering the surface.

 

Does anybody really know happiness,

And all that is waiting to be had?

Life, today, is so very rampant,

Many miss out on being happy because they're mad.

 

I wonder what I have done to deserve

All the love and joy in my life.

I can't imagine a better happiness

Than the life I have with my wife.

 

Never a harsh word spoken out of anger.

Only love, honor,and respect displayed.

We can barely handle the time we're apart,

But, we thank God for this union he has made.

"My Personal Philosophy"

Someone is always asking me if I'm around,

But the truth is I'll always be a square.

I was raised with old traditional values

And taught to be respectful and how to care.

 

I never did feel the need to be rebellious,

Or force the world to live according to me.

After all, I'm only human and could be wrong.

So, I decided to be the very best I can be.

 

I try not to put high expectations on others,

But to accept them just the way they are.

Needless to say, many aren't compatible,

But, then, other than true friends rarely are.

 

So, I choose to live life the way I see fit,

Taking each day with hope, love, and faith.

Looking forward to what life has to offer,

That in the end, I will have run a good race.
